Michael McCarty

Bio

In 2001, Coach Michael McCarty graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education PE and a minor in History. While there he had the privilege to play basketball for 4 years, being a 3 year starter and a team captain. While playing at NBBC the team set a school record with 76 total wins and he set a school record from the 3 pt. line shooting 43.1% in a season.

He continued his education at Central Baptist Theological Seminary graduating in 2005 with a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. While at Central he began working at Fourth Baptist Christian School in Plymouth, MN. During that time he coached boys’ basketball, boys’ soccer, golf, and baseball while also being the Director of Athletics.

In 2005 God called his family to Shiloh Hills Christian School in Kennesaw, GA. While at SHCS Coach McCarty was the Director of Athletics, Head boys’ Basketball coach, and also coached JH Football, Baseball and Golf. While at Shiloh Hills he began a High School mentoring program for the leaders in the High School and fostered a partnership with FCA of Cobb County.

In the fall of 2012, he joined the staff at Northland International University (NCCAA DII), in Dunbar, WI as the  Assistant Men’s basketball coach under Coach Pete Wehry. Coach McCarty helped lead the Pioneers to be the 2013 NCCAA DII Mideast Region Champions. In the spring of 2013, he was appointed the Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Basketball coach. 

In the summer of 2014, God moved the McCarty family again to Clarks Summit University (NCAA DIII) in Clarks Summit, PA. While there he was an Assistant Men's Basketball coach and the Director of Athletics. 

During the summer of 2017, Coach McCarty accepted a position at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College (NCCAA DII) to be the Director of the Health and Recreation Center, Director of Boyce College Athletics, and the Head Men's Basketball coach. He stated "I am excited for the opportunity God has given us to join such a great team at SBTS and Boyce College. The opportunity to lead the Men's Basketball team and invest in the lives of the young men here is a great privilege."

Coach McCarty has been a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches for 20 years.

Coach McCarty and his wife, Rachel, have one son, Noah. Coach loves to spend time with his family, read the Word, read leadership or athletic-related books and watch his son play NCAA D2 baseball.
